Welcome to 127 S Emerson Street, a remodeled brick two-story in West Wash Park that pairs turn-of-the-century character with a thoughtful modern renovation. A full-width front porch leads to a welcoming foyer, and double doors open into a living room where original windows, refinished hardwood floors, soaring ceilings and a gas fireplace set the tone. The dining room keeps its original built-in buffet, and a main-level bath with heated floors is a welcome surprise. The kitchen was rebuilt for both cooking and entertaining, with custom cabinetry, quartz countertops and backsplash, a waterfall island, stainless steel appliances, a new wine refrigerator and generous storage. It opens to an informal dining area and a bright family room where skylights and multiple doors to the backyard bring the outdoors in. Upstairs, three bedrooms and a full updated bathroom complete the layout. Updates throughout include windows, lighting, electrical, paint, furnace and air conditioning, finished with plantation shutters and Hunter Douglas cellular shades. Outside, the fully fenced lot is designed for easy living, with a front yard that mixes lawn and a turf putting green, and a low-maintenance turf backyard for entertaining or relaxing. A detached one-car garage and a covered two-car carport provide three off-street parking spaces, a rare find this close to the park. Steps from neighborhood restaurants, shopping and Washington Park, and minutes to Cherry Creek and downtown Denver.

From the street, this home keeps its secret — the honest face of a 1921 Washington Park Craftsman, low and gracious, full of the quiet character only a century of good living can give. Then you step inside, and it unfolds. A thoughtful rear addition turns the classic Craftsman footprint into something rare: a home that breathes. The original rooms keep their old-time charm, while the addition opens the back into a second living room that flows, almost without seam, into a private backyard. Anchoring it is a new gas fireplace — the effortless centerpiece that turns a Colorado winter evening into the best part of the day. Upstairs, the primary suite is bathed in natural light — a private retreat on its own floor — while a custom loft adds an unexpected room, its bespoke cabinetry turning extra square footage into beautiful storage. Below, the basement has been elevated with a fully remodeled bath: an oversized shower and a new, modern feel. The true luxury is the part you don't see. Behind the walls, the owners reinforced the second floor with a structural beam, added a whisper-quiet attic fan, and installed a dedicated mini-split to keep the addition comfortable in every season. Outside, a private backyard oasis — a yard of a size and seclusion you rarely find this close to Washington Park — is made for entertaining, with an outdoor kitchen and a rear carport for added parking. And then there is the address. At 966 S. York Street, this is Washington Park at its most quintessential: Old South Gaylord — Denver's second-oldest shopping district — sits one block away, for Saturday pastries and slow evenings, while the park's lakes, flower gardens, and 2.6-mile loop wait a short walk beyond. A home finished enough for a couple ready to exhale, and generous enough for a family putting down roots, in one of Denver's most beloved enclaves.

Washington Park Homes for Sale in Denver CO

The architecturally diverse Wash Park neighborhood boasts one of the highest percentages of historic homes in all of Denver. Bungalows, Denver Squares, Victorians, and duplexes dominate, but you’ll find some “scrape-offs” and “pop-tops” scattered among Wash Park West real estate as well. When you're buying in Wash Park, you'll want to spend more time outdoors than in.

Was Park Garden Center

Mature trees, know-your-neighbor streets, and landscaped lawns make Wash Park—as the locals call it—a highly coveted area. Surrounding and facing the park are bungalows and duplexes that have been preserved and expanded, as well as some extravagant new-builds. The views of—and access to—Denver's most popular park make this neighborhood on the pricier side, but the village-esque feel, with ice cream and baby strollers, make it all worthwhile.

FEATURED 5-STAR GOOGLE REVIEW

In short, Barry worked a real-estate miracle for me.  I had 30 days to get my house on the market and sold.  To compound things, it needed paint and a number of other repairs and I travel most weeks for work.   Barry told me he could handle it and he did.  He has a great network of service providers (painters, handymen, plumbers, stagers, you name it...) that were all at the ready to get my house on the market.  Not only did Barry identify the right people to get the job done, he also oversaw the work and coordinated and managed activities while I was traveling for work.  He also did a great job of communicating with me about what was happening on an almost daily basis.  In parallel, to the "mini-flip" activities, Barry was doing his homework to set a price that maximized the return on my investment while also ensuring a quick sale.  He was able to get me a written offer within 72 hours of going on the market and I was able to hit my closing deadline.

I can recommend Barry without hesitation and would absolutely work with him again. - Corey Smith
